It seems a hundred years ago
Since I took to the open road
And drove a thousand miles or more
All the way to sea and shore
To cast my bread upon the waters
And live among the lotus flowers
Like one big happy family
In the land that's by the sea
Slowly drifting without focus
While sitting on a cool, green lotus
Vacant smiles and clueless stares
That disappear into thin air
Across the pond, into the stream
Like a bubble in a dream
Or in a little paddle boat
That doesn't steer but only floats
Fare thee well my lotus flower
You were pretty but too shallow
And smug upon your golden pond
To even notice it was gone
